Under the new contract 2 cafés will continue to be offered, although after August we will not be able to offer transport, as current funds don’t allow for this. We realise that this will be disappointing to some Carers, as it is to us, and we will be mounting a robust fundraising campaign with the aim to reintroduce transport support in the future.
If you are interested in being involved in this fundraising campaign please contact the Carers’ Centre. In the interim staff from Carers Partnership Wandsworth will support people to access other forms of support with transport. Please speak to staff at the cafés.
The Sunflower Café will continue at the same venue in Putney as this has good transport links. However the last Poppy Café at the current venue will be in August as transport links there are poor. In addition the Alzheimer’s Society runs a dementia café on a Sunday in Tooting so it makes sense to ensure that there is good access to dementia cafés across Wandsworth and to offer the other café in a different area of the borough.
In the first instance this means that the Bluebell Café in Battersea will continue as the second café offered by Carers Partnership Wandsworth. We will be consulting Carers about the café provision in the borough and if you would like to be involved please let us know as there will be different ways to support the cafés if fundraising isn’t for you.
