Need to lose weight but don’t know where to start?
Many Carers put the needs of the person they care for before their own, and losing a few pounds can come way down on your list of priorities. However, losing weight can help prevent a range of medical problems, including heart disease, strokes, mobility problems and cancer, so keeping slim can help keep you well and able to cope with the demands of caring.
The council’s public health department is offering vouchers for 12 weeks’ free Weight Watchers or Slimming World membership. You can go to one of several groups across the borough. The groups combine advice and support on healthy eating, physical activity and motivation, and in addition to the help given during classes, online support is offered.
Some restrictions apply. To find out more or book your free place, contact the Wandsworth Weight Management team on (020) 8871 5017 or email email@example.com.
The council also supports a number of community cookery clubs across the borough where you can find out more about cooking healthily. For more information, call (020) 8871 5051 or email FBojang@wandsworth.gov.uk.
