Carers Partnership Wandsworth Dementia Support Service

The Carers Partnership Wandsworth Dementia Support Service is provided by Enrico Pinna of Alzheimer’s Society.  He advises family and Carers of people with a dementia diagnosis about all aspects of dementia, including: what dementia is, how to support someone day to day, what financial support is available, what legal matters should be considered to plan for the future, what activities there are for the person with dementia, where to access peer support and what training there is for Carers.

This service is tailored to the needs of the Carer and Enrico makes home visits to talk to Carers about their concerns and queries and draws up a support plan.  Enrico can be a source of on-going support for as long as the Carer would like help.  This is what Enrico has to say.

“I am originally from Italy.  for many years, i have made London my home: I love living and working in such a diverse city.  I have been involved in the Health and Social Care field for over 15 years in various roles and positions, mainly with vulnerable adults in the criminal justice system and with substance misuse issues.  I am passionate about working in a person-centred way: all service users benefit from being fully involved in a care plan that best meets their needs.  I am also passionate about working to promote diversity and equal opportunities, particularly in relation to the LGBT community.  I look forward to offering my support to improve service users’ quality of life.”

Jasmine Cafe Re-launch

The Jasmine Cafe was re-launched on Saturday 17th September at its new location Randall Close Day Centre in Battersea.  It was a great success with increased numbers of Carers and people with dementia attending.

During the Cafe there was a talk from Wandsworth Council on Telecare and a taster session from Singing for the Brain.    This Cafe has free transport available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please let us know if you would like to book a space.

Over the next couple of months we have a number of different entertainment sessions booked, ranging from a sax quartet to a talk from Battersea Society on the history of the area.  If you are interested in coming along to the Cafe or volunteering, please contact the Cafe co-ordinator on  020 887 0033 or email: wandsworth@alzheimers.org.uk
